Is watching movies one of your favorite things to do? Do you remember when the cartoons of the 90’s were fun to watch? I don’t think that they make cartoons as good as back then. We go back to the 90’s to explore some of the classic Disney films, A Goofy Movie and An Extremely Goofy Movie.
Watching these gave me a great feeling of nostalgia, as I remember how life was like before the pressures of adulting. As a kid, I got these movies on VHS and I called this movie ‘A Goopy Mobie’ when I was a kid.
These movies are silly and fun to watch and the whole family will love them.
A Goofy Movie
On the last day of school, Max gets in trouble and Goofy was told by the principle that he needs to reevaluate his parenting method or Max is going to end up in the electric chair.
In an effort to control the situation, Goofy comes up with this idea to take Max camping in Idaho. Max doesn’t want to go because he has a date with his crush Roaxxne for the viewing of the Power Line concert on tv, but he is basically forced to go on a camping trip with his father and has to break up his date with Roxanne.
Feeling horrible about cancelling his date, Max tells Roxanne that he is going to LA to the Power Line concert. Oh-oh, Max is caught up in a lie, how will he get out of this situation? Will Goofy become closer to his son, who is drifting away? Will Max and his teammates be able to dethrone the gammas?
Ok, I will tell you that people may not like this movie like they like modern movies, but it was one of my favorite childhood movies. Goofy and Max did record time driving cross country…LOL.
I give this movie a 10 out of 10.
In case you didn’t know, this movie is based on, A Goof Troop, one of my favorite cartoon shows of the 90’s. I would suggest you watch, A Goof Troop, on Disney+.
In this video below, you will see Easter eggs you may have missed while watching this movie.
An Extremely Goofy Movie
Max, PJ, and Bobby are going to college and looking forward to competing in the X-Games. Although, Goofy is taking it hard and at work one day he is caught daydreaming, kind of like what I did in school on most days, and everything goes downhill. After creating an explosion, he is fired.
At college, Max is recruited to the Gammas by legendary Bradley Uppercrust III. However, after hearing that he is the only one being recruited and not PJ and Bobby, he declines. But, Upercreast isn’t thrilled that Max declines, so he challenges his crew in the X-Games.
Meanwhile, Goofy is now unemployed and has to go back to college so that he can get a job. Goofy and Max are not classmates to Max’s horror. Who would want to be classmates with their day? How embarrassing.
Unfortunately, Goofy interferes with Max college life and further embarasses him. This goes too far when Goofy tells Max about his new girlfriend during Max’s practice. Because of this Goofy realizes that he likes skateboarding and asks Max if he can be a part of his team. Goofy just wants to be close to his son, but he comes across as smothering.
Since Max doesn’t want his dad to be on his team, he recommends that he joins the Gammas. So, when the X-Games event comes, it’s father against son. Who will win in this showdown?
Will Max and his team beat the Gammas? What will happen with Goofy? Find out in this movie.
I liked the first movie better, but this movie is worth watching. It does have some silliness in it that your kids are sure to enjoy.
This is a fun movie that you should see, but the newer Disney movies are far better. This movie came out in the year 2000, and the quality of movies have gotten a lot better.
It was the 90’s so of course a lot of the movies were not as great as modern movies, but these movies are great if you want to feel nostalgic.
