Family Friendly Movie Reviews – A Wrinkle in Time

It is movie time. Time to get out the popcorn, snuggle with your pet alligator…lol.  Get ready, because I am about to bring you one of me family friendly movie reviews.

Here is a fun fantasy movie to see. I did not read the book so I really don’t know how it compares to the book but I’m hoping one of you awesome readers will tell me.

Go out and see A Wrinkle in Time, one of the many classic novels that became a movie. Unfortunately, I did not read this in English Literature class in school, so I had absolutely no expectations, other than the trailer, of what I was about to see.

A while ago, I decided to watch back-to-back movies at the theaters and one of them was this movie by Disney. Because I love Disney, I thought that this movie was going to be great.  This movie is one of the newest science fiction movies that you must see and is also one of the classic books made into movies. But, like a lot of movies based on books, the book is way better so I’ve heard.

This is a family friend movie and completely acceptable to show your kids. There is no language or any thing raunchy in this movie.

Below, I will give you a basic synopsis and review of this movie.

Family Friendly Movie Reviews

Meg Murray (Storm Reid) works with his brother, Charles Wallace (Deric McCabe), and a school friend, Calvin, to find her Astrophysicist father (Chris Pine) who disappeared. The children then encounter magical beings, Mrs. Whatsit (Reese Witherspoon), Mrs, Who (Mindy Kaling), and Mrs. Which (Oprah Winfrey), who tell the children that Meg’s father is alive and mysterious traveled through the universe.

The children travel with these three women by causing a wrinkle in time via a tesseract to teleport to other planets to find Meg’s father. There is also a great darkness that spreads wickedness among humankind that the children must weaken in order to give humanity hope again.

Where is this darkness originating? Camazotz is the habitat for the being known as IT. IT is the one responsible for poisoning the minds of humanity.

Can the children find Meg’s father and weaken the power of IT? If you read the book, you already know the answer. This trailer is sure to give you more information about this movie and may pique your interest.

I can only guess that the book was probably better than the movie. If you have read the book, let me know if the movie does the book any justice. This film only got a 133.4 million in the box office,  barely enough to cover what they spent for the film other critics are negative about this move. However, watch this movie and form your own opinion.

Rotten Tomatoes only gives this film a 42%, and I have to say because books and usually better than their adapted movies, that this is probably the case. But, for me I would have to rate this film higher, only because I have not read the book.

I think that this movie was entertaining for a science fiction fantasy movie. Let me know if you plan to watch, or what your feelings are about this movie.

Books are usually better than the movie version, but this is an entertaining movie. If you don’t judge it based on the book, you will enjoy the film better.
